Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)

Job Location: Arlington, Virginia

Clearance Required: Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance

Years of Experience: 10

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electric Engineering or equivalent work experience in IT Product Development or Engineering

General:
  • CISSP, CCNA, FISMA, NIST 800-47 Risk Management Framework or Security Test and Evaluation
  • CISSP-ISSEP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional – Information System Security Engineering Professional)
  • One of the following in good standing: Microsoft, Linux, CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, Security Event Management, Security Advisor (CEH, CISA, GSNA) or PMP
  • Direct experience with Information Assurance Technical Framework (IATF) Version 3.1, Systems Security Engineering Capability Maturity Model (SSE-CMM) Version 3.0, Common Criteria (ISO 27001), Security Enterprise Architect or Security Test and Evaluation
  • Prefer Previous experience serving as federal government ISSE or Lead Systems Engineer (LSE)
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required




Duties:
  • Implement higher-level security requirements such as those resulting from laws, regulations, or Presidential directives.
  • Integrates security design principles across disciplines and the Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).
  • Discovers information protection needs and documents information protection policies.
  • Reviews proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks.
  • Leads security related product selection and implementation activities.
  • Defines the scope and level of detail for security plans and policies applicable to the system.
  • Institutes measures to ensure security awareness and compliance.
  • Identifies need for change based on new security technologies or threats.
  • Analyzes change requests to the system security posture impact.
  • Reviews and evaluates security incident response policies. Manages security incident procedures.
  • Develops and implements long-range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, and mitigate, and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.

Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electric Engineering or equivalent work experience in IT Product Development or Engineering
